Style Q&A
I've recently become obsessed with Lauren Conrad's new website, it's basically an extension of her book Style which I absolutely LOVE. I saw this short personal style Q&A on her website & it inspired me to post it on my own site (with my own answers, of course!). Feel free to copy it to your own blog with your answers or post in the comments section below!
- What's the strangest thing in your closet? Several Halloween costumes (Harry Potter, Robin Hood and Silk Spectra)
- Who was the first movie character that impacted your style identity? Deion from Clueless was possibly the first movie character that made me really think about the importance of style. Then after that, Carrie from Sex and the City.
- If you met your teenage self today, what would you say to her? Take full advantage of having very little responsibilities!
- Where's the best place you've been so far this year? It's a toss up...Cairo, Egypt and Monte Carlo, France.
- What is your idea of happiness? Having people in your life that love and understand you and you understand them and don't need to do much together to have an amazing time.
- What is your biggest guilty pleasure? Red Velvet Cupcakes and BARGAINS.
- How do you hope to evolve as a stylist? I hope to eventually leave my bread-and-butter job and jump completely into styling and owning a boutique.
- What historical figure do you most admire style wise? There's soo many, but I'm admiring Chanel most right now.
- What are you wearing on your nails right now? French mani and pedi.
- My best advice for styling: Always wear what you feel most comfortable in. Wear and own the clothes don't let them wear you!

Whether it’s a holiday soiree, a small get-together, or a fabulous New Year's fete—knowing how to navigate a party with ease and grace is crucial. If your mailbox (or should I say inbox) is flooded with celebratory invites, then this is a must-read for you… Ladies, I present to you the Proper Party Girl Commandments:
Your Arrival
- Thou shall arrive within the first 30 minutes.
- Thou shall seek out the host and graciously thank them for the beautiful party.
- Thou shall provide the host with a small gift such as a bottle of wine or a box of chocolates.
- Thou shall introduce thy guest upon each introduction.
- Thou shalt not bring any unexpected or uninvited guests. Sorry party crashers.
- Thou shalt not drink excessively.
- Thou shalt avoid mixing drinks.
- Thou shalt not present thyself as a hot mess.
- Thou shalt not overeat.
- Thou shalt not double dip. Ever. Ew.
- Thou shalt not walk around with multiple hors d’oeuvres.
- Thou shall toss used napkins and toothpicks in the trash.
- Thou shall check for leftovers in thy teeth before engaging in conversation.
- Thou shalt not corner anyone into a conversation the entire night (unless he’s cute).
- Thou shall avoid topics pertaining to business and other potentially unpleasant matters.
- Thou shalt no complain.
- Thou shalt not “pop in” to the party for 10 minutes and leave.
- Thou shall bid the host adieu if it is an intimate gathering. However, if it’s a big party, thou shall quietly leave instead.
- Thou shalt not overstay thy welcome. (Don’t linger…It’s creepy.)
- Thou shalt not ever leave a birthday party before the cake has been served.

DIY: Karly's Winter Facial
I adore beauty DIY projects so you can imagine how excited I was when discovered Karly Goins’ recipe for a seriously sweet winter facial, an Oh Sugar Pie Honey Bunch Facial that is…
Below are Karly’s directions. Give it a try and let me know how it goes!
This facial is mildly exfoliating (can be made more abrasive with more sugar), anti-bacterial and moisturizing! It is smooth and creamy, and can be warmed up in the microwave for cold dry skin in the winter (This does however melt the sugar so it becomes an even creamier mix.) All you need are a couple basic kitchen staples and it's as easy as that!
What you will need…
Are you going to give Karly’s winter facial a try?

All you need are a couple basic kitchen staples and it's as easy as that!
What you will need…
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of honey
- 1 tbsp. of milk (the higher the fat percentage, the better)
- Pour sugar into a bowl, slowly stirring in the honey, and add quantity of milk desired (the more milk the looser the consistency).
- Pat mixture onto skin (avoiding eye area, it makes eyelashes sticky and the sugar is harsh on delicate skin). Leave on for 10-20 minutes (whatever you like best and have time for) this mask will not dry on your skin or become tight or hard, it will stay moist and sticky, I suggest wearing an old t-shirt while wearing this in case of any "sticky situations."
- Rinse the mixture off with lukewarm water; you may use a wash cloth or facial cleansing brush to assist you if you like, but make sure to clean extra well around your hairline or some of the honey might dry in hard sticky clumps. Eew no thank you!
- I also like to soak cotton pads/rounds in some of the same type of milk I added into the mixture, I put on some relaxing music, and lay on m bed for 5 minutes with the pads/rounds layer on my face! The lactic acid from the milk will help to slough away dead skin, while the fats & proteins in the milk help to strengthen and plump the skin.
- Then rinse, apply moisturizer (don't forget to put one on that has SPF if you're going out in the sun after this facial!), Look at yourself in the mirror and SMILE! You are beautiful, and now you're soft, glowy, clean skin is a little bit more beautiful too!
Are you going to give Karly’s winter facial a try?

Must See: "Think Like a Man"
Steve Harvey has turned his Bestseller book "Act like a Lady, Think like a Man" into a movie.
My girlfriends and I read the book when it came out a couple of years ago and we thought it was very entertaining. The movie doesn't hit theaters until 2012 but here is the trailer. It looks hilarious.

Rebecca Torres: League of Electric Collection
I am really digging the new dress collection by Scottish designer Rebecca Torres. It has a "Wonder Women" vibe to it.
