2 Fast 2 Furious
This past Friday, myself and a group of LT's (License Teachers) attended Yas Drift night at Yas Marina Circuit. I have never watched drifting before, but I enjoyed myself a lot. It was a free event and a lot of spectators were there.
We were given access to watch the event from "The Pit (so that's what I called it)"... It really got my adrenaline pumping. I encourage everyone to to experience this once in their lifetime.

Pampering on a Budget
Who knew I would have to move to the other side of the world to receive the best manicure and pedicure ever!!!
I visited Nail Lounge at Abu Dhabi Mall in Abu Dhabi City. It is owned by a Pilipino lady that greets you at the door in Arabic. Two technicians work on you at the same time and tend to your every need. My service included a manicure, pedicure and massage for 110 dirham’s (29 USD).
I highly suggest this nail salon : )

Lebanese Flower...
I have been craving authentic Lebanon and Arabic food since I have been here in Abu Dhabi. This past week I visited a Lebanese restaurant in Al Khalidiyah which is located in Abu Dhabi city named "Lebanese Flower". It is a highly favored restaurant with the locals and definably one of mine. The food was DELICIOUS! A group of four of us went and they served us enough food for at least six people. We ate like queens that night. We ordered a platter called "The Lebanese Flower". The platter came with salad, hummus, baba ghanouj, toum, pita bread, grilled veggies, olives, lamb and chicken skewers, chicken wings, lamb pizza, and watermelon as our dessert.
Bill = 120 dirham’s (30 dirham’s per person= 8 USD)...now that's priceless!

OJRA...
Today, fellow License Teachers (LT) and I explored Abu Dhabi by way of their metro bus system...OJRA. The fare was 2 dirham (.54 cents ) outside of the city center and 1 dirham (.27 cents) within the city center. Let's just say it was quite an interesting day.
Ferrari World Indoor Theme Park..This is where the worlds fastest roller coaster is. It reaches a speed of 155mph. |
This is the bus we took into the city center. Bus numbers with triple digits are routes outside the city and bus numbers with double digits are routes within the city. |
I'm still confused about this picture. |
Abu Dhabi bus terminal. This is where we purchased our day bus passes for 3 dirhams (.81 cents). |
Mall boutique displays their sign of "Be Right Back". I found this hilarious. |
Here we are waiting at the bus stop. The majority of Abu Dhabi bus stops are closed in with air condition. |

As Carrie would say "Shoes for Everyone"
Expats and LT's were raving all week about going to the "Exhibition Center". I didn't quite know what they were refering to but knowing that shopping was in the equation I was all in!
The popular exhibition showcases consumer goods with a traditional celebration. Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company (ADNEC), hosts hundreds of local and other middle eastern businesses (India, Egypt, Thailand). The event showcases family-friendly consumer goods, unique gift items, Arabic food, toys and games, handmade leather shoes and clothing along with an ambiance of togetherness during the month of Ramadan.

Paris Sorbonne University...
This past week, Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) held their 3-day License Teacher (LT) orientation at Paris Sorbonne University, Abu Dhabi Campus.
Interesting Up-date: I found out that I will probably be teaching Kindergarten! For anyone who knows me, you know the youngest I have taught is fifth grade and my favorite instructional assignment has been middle grades. This will definitely be a challenge that I will embrace.
This is why I embarked on this journey. It's time for me to shake things up a bit and step out of my comfort zone.

Arabian Performer
I indulged myself with an Arabian performer at Abu Dhabi mall during the breaking of their fast "Iftar".
Abu Dhabi Mall...
This evening I ventured into the city center of Abu Dhabi to get a feel of the spirit of the Arabians during Ramadan. Ramadan is Muslims Holy Month, most businesses are closed until sunset where they break their fast with a meal called Iftar. The city comes alive during the evenings. Who knew that malls would have an abundance of live music, artist and performers. We watched an Arabian perform a beautiful dance, were served a mysterious berry juice and got free henna tatoos.
